Vladimir Klitschko (51-3, 45KOs) IBF/WBO heavyweight champion
to defend his titles against number-five ranked Hasim Rahman (45-6-2, 36KOs).
Rahman, a former two-time heavyweight champion, takes the place of IBF mandatory
Alexander Povetkin who last week suffered an injury during a training run and was
forced to withdraw from the contest. The fight will still take place on
December 13 at SAP-Arena in Mannheim, Germany. HBO will also
broadcast it. Wladimir Klitschko (51-3, 45KOs) IBF/WBO heavyweight champion

Update 25 Oct 2008.
Povetkin the IBF’s #1 heavyweight contender has suffered a training injury, leaving him
unable to challenge IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko as scheduled on
December 13th. Povetkin was running in the woods in his hometown of Kursk when
he tripped over a tree root and injured his left foot. An MRI was conducted revealing that
Povetkin suffered a partially torn ligament in his left foot. He will be unable to train until
the end of November. The Klitschko-Povetkin fight will now be delayed until early 2009.

Vladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin-12 rounds, for Klitschko’s IBF/WBO
heavyweight title. Vladimir says “The fight will be shown live on HBO in the US.
The US market is very important to me and I have lot of fans there.”
The unofficial word is the fight will take place Saturday December 13 2008

Vladimir was a Gold Medalist in the 1996 Olympics Super
Heavyweight Division. Povetkin won Gold in 2004. The fact that Vladimir is Ukrainan
and Povetkin Russian might not get much play here in the USA but it could in
Europe.

the TV rights”, says Wladimir Klitschko.
